Rocky Bhalla was born in India and brought up in Essex, just outside of London. After completing a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of London, he began his career with Anglo Educational Services / Vienna Group of Hotels in 1978, working in various divisions of the company. His current position is Managing Director of Anglo Educational Services. Rocky has a passion for the Study Abroad market, and thrives on working closely with partners to develop a wide range of ideas and products with a particular focus on accommodation. In his spare time Rocky enjoys spending time with his family, travelling and making the most of all the culinary offerings that London has, both in and out of the home. Although his roots lie in London, Rocky is also a great fan of Rome, with its beautiful architecture, wonderful food and rich history. His top tip for London is to make sure you experience at least one theatre production when you are here. Phantom of the Opera is his particular favourite, although he tries to see something different at least a few times a year.
Joanne Bowers was born in the outskirts of London where she still lives today. After undertaking a diploma in Hotel and Tourism she joined the Lowy group in 1988 working in the central reservations department working her way up over the years to eventually manage 2 of the group’s serviced apartment buildings. After a break to start a family Joanne returned to the fold in 2009 to take up the role of Administration Manager at AES. Her primary role involves looking after the property side of the business, including juggling our many groups- which is no mean feat! Outside of the office Joanne enjoys reading, cooking, watching films and spending time with her family. Her favourite location in Europe is the Black Forest in Germany, where she was fortunate enough to spend 5 months during her teenage years on a work placement. Although she hasn’t returned in many years she would love to do so to see all the changes that have taken place in the area, and to see if she can remember any of the language! Joanne’s top tip for London is to make sure that you don’t stick to the tourist attractions and go off the beaten track. You never know what you might find.
Tony Fisher grew up in Portsmouth and moved to London in his early twenties before beginning his career with the Lowy Group in 1988 after studying Hotel Management and Catering. He started initially within the catering sector moving into hotel management before joining AES. Tony is now responsible for property procurement throughout AES which involves working closely with the team to expand our housing portfolio alongside his position as Head of Operations. Tony is Anglo’s biggest football fan and lives for Fulham FC. It is very rare that he is seen without some form of Fulham accessory. His love of the game has also afforded him the opportunity to travel extensively in Europe to watch various matches which fuels his love of travel and different cultures. When Tony is not living and breathing football he enjoys dancing, especially salsa. Tony’s favourite cities in Europe are Madrid and Barcelona because they both allow him to indulge his love of Spanish food and salsa dancing. His top tips for London of course include going to a football match (ideally at Craven Cottage home to Fulham) making the most of the nightlife and attending the many international festivals that are always going on throughout the capital.
Michael Kelly grew up in Ireland and has worked for The Lowy Group in various capacities for over 10 years, initially working in one of the group hostels before managing AES properties. In his role as Student Relations Manager Michael works closely with the operations team to ensure that everyone’s stay runs smoothly, and any issues are ironed out straight away. Outside of work Michael has a great interest in both music and military aircraft. His favourite city is Rome because of the history and his top tip for London is to make sure you bring a raincoat!
